Volunteers Needed for Firecracker Cleanup

The city is asking people to help clean up after the massive Fourth of July festivities.

Safety Harbor's Fourth of July festivities are said to be some of the best in the area, with a parade during the day and a spectacular fireworks display at night.

But with all that fun comes plenty of filth, in the form of trash and debris left over from the display and the patrons who pack the streets in and around the marina.

So the city is asking for volunteers to assist the Partners in Parks organization in helping to clean up the aftermath of the holiday celebration.

Here is the release the city sent out:

Oh, say can you see all the fireworks trash and debris? Safety Harbor Events puts on an extraordinary fireworks display every July 4, but a major side effect of the display is the trash and debris that gets left behind by the fireworks and the viewers. On July 5, at 8:00 am at the Safety Harbor Marina and Waterfront Park (110 Veterans Memorial Ln.), Partners in Parks will be hosting the Firecracker Cleanup. Bring a friend and join in this effort to keep Safety Harbor beautiful and help get the debris before it blows out into the bay. Together we can make a difference in our community. To learn more about this event or about Partners in Parks, call Donna Mack at 727-724-1545 x1155 or visit SafetyHarborRecreation.com.

If you're able to make it, this is a terrific way to give back the community for putting on such a spectacular Fourth of July celebration.
