Safety Harbor Race Extends Hand to Runners of Canceled Rock 'N' Roll Race

After two years, the Rock 'n' Roll Half Marathon in St. Petersburg has been canceled.

This week thousands of Tampa Bay area runners heard the sad news that the Rock 'N' Roll Half Marathon St. Petersburg was canceled by event organizers.

Luckily for those runners, a Safety Harbor race has stepped up to the plate to give them an opportunity to run in the "Best Damn Race."

"We would like to invite any of you who were planning to run RnR to run with us in February," Best Damn Race organizers said. "Best Damn Race is only eight days earlier and we are offering a discount code for $5 OFF registration."

Best Damn Race includes a 5K, 10K, Half Marathon and a 5K+10K Challenge.

The inaugural Best Damn Race was held this year. 2014's race will be held Feb. 1 in Safety Harbor.

"This registration is good for the next two weeks while you are requesting your refund from RnR. Code is ROCKROLL and will work for a $5 discount on the 5K, 10K, Challenge, or Half Marathon. We're sorry to see your running plans change but we'd love to have you"

After two years, organizers canceled the Rock ‘n’ Roll Half Marathon in St. Petersburg.

"After a careful evaluation, we have made the difficult business decision to cancel the 2014 Rock ‘n’ Roll St. Pete Half Marathon," a news release said. "We thank our local partners, including the St. Petersburg Clearwater Sports Commission and the City of St. Petersburg, for all the hard work that has been accomplished over the past two years," organizers said.
