"We also found out yesterday about Tim's passing. We are just devastated. Such a sweet sweet man. Prayers to his loved ones from us at Main Street Jewelry," Kristen Shea wrote in the comments on Karen's piece.

"So sorry to hear, I just met him and John not that long ago. Seemed like a wonderful man! Our thoughts are with you and his family," Dawn Bailey of Main Street Market added.

People have also made reference to the mannequin Thompson left outside his Fifth Avenue North shop.

"So sad! I loved his mannequin and costume changes," Luanne Lambert  wrote on our Facebook page.

Julie Brannon, owner of Bailey's Naturals herbal apothecary shop located right next door to Thompson's salon, was too emotional to speak about her neighbor's passing, stating in an email, "We're all just reeling over here."
