Curves Takes a New Turn in the New Year

The downtown fitness center now offers a complete weight loss program featuring exercise, a meal plan and certified coaching.

The holidays are over, and New Years resolutions are filling the semi-cool Florida air.

And with ‘losing weight’ ranking right near the top of many lists, we decided to identify ways to help you keep those pesky promises.

Luckily there’s a place in the heart of the Harbor that can help you lose weight and get fit at the same time.

“Curves is changing directions a bit, transitioning from a fitness center to a weight loss center,” Debbie Truche, owner of the Main Street business, said. “We’re going head-to-head with the major weight loss centers.”

Truche, who opened the center in September of 2011, said the company realized today’s women are looking for diet as well as exercise programs.

By offering weight loss plans as well as cardio and strength training, the company hopes to be viewed as a comprehensive health and fitness center.

“Those other programs, they’re only diets,” she said. “We’re the whole deal – exercise, meal plan and coaching.”

After completing a 30-minute tour of the facility, which includes a fitness assessment, the professionals at Curves will help you decide which program is best for you.

“We recommend a program based on our initial evaluation,” Truche explained. “We have a variety of programs to fit individual needs.”

Truche said Curves caters to women of all ages. They can opt for a variety of plans, programs and classes, each of which is safe, fun and effective.

With its new dietary direction combined with Curves’ years of experience in the fitness field, Truche said her clients now receive a complete weight loss and fitness plan.

“This opens us up to a wider audience,” she said. “We’re here for people who want a real solution to help lose weight.”
