Photo Gallery: 2012 Safety Harbor Holiday Parade

The annual downtown event drew hundreds of spectators and featured a slew of parade participants, from city commissioners to snakes to Mr. and Mrs. Claus.

By all accounts, the 2012 Safety Harbor Holiday Parade exceeded expectations.

The annual downtown extravaganza, which celebrated the 95th anniversary of Safety Harbor, was one of the biggest in the 32 year history of the event according to many onlookers and participants.

"This is one of the biggest ones I've seen," former city commission candidate Bobby Saltzman said. "I didn't think it was going to end!"

And with a run time of nearly two hours and contributions from politicians, dancers, animals and numerous vehicles of all types, who's going to argue?

The parade began at 1:00 on Saturday afternoon, and when it was finished, thousands of strands of beads had been thrown, dozens of motorized vehicles had traveled down Main Street, and hundreds of people went home with smiles on their faces, happy to be part to yet another terrific community event in the Harbor.

"What an awesome turnout," Vice Mayor Joe Ayoub said afterwards.

"The people were great, the parade marshals were great. It was just an awesome event."
